The Indonesia Satipațțhāna Foundation (Yasati) has been holding Satipațțhāna meditation retreats, both long-term intensive and short retreats from 2003 to the present.

Due to the Covid 19 outbreak, Yasati is trying to keep meditation retreats running without breaking health protocols urged by the government through this online retreat program.

In this online retreat program, all participants are required to observe the 8 Precepts (Atthasila), obey the discipline, and participate fully according to the daily schedule of this program, including sitting meditation, walking meditation and daily activities mindfully.


Basic instructions will be given via Yasati youtube channel, the link will be provided 3 days before the program starts.


Participants must watch & listen mindfully, and understand the meditation instructions before joining this program.

Participant requirements: minimum has participated in practicing Vipassana meditation, the Mahasi Sayadaw technique, for 10 days.

Retreat Rules:

1.Yogi must read the “Rules of Online Retreat” before making an application.

2.Yogi have to fill out and approve, the online registration form and comply all regulations, to be able to join the meditation program. If yogi did not follow the regulations or disturb other participants/program, then Yasati reserves the right to discontinue yogi from the program of meditation.

3.Yogi must practice vipassana meditation in accordance with the method of Mahasi tradition taught by meditation teacher (Sayadaw/Bhikkhu/Sayalay). Yogi should not perform other meditation exercise methods without the approval of meditation teacher. It is absolute and important that all forms of prayer, worship or religious ceremonies such as fasting, burning incense, counting prayer beads, reciting mantras and the like are not permitted during the practice of meditation.

4.Yogi must carry out exercises to completion in accordance with the schedule approved by the yogi before registration.

5.For training participants are required to:

a.turning on video.

b.mute voice during the online sessions is needed.

c.any other notification except zoom application should be turned off to improve your concentration.

d.observe Aṭṭhasīla / 8 Precepts.

e.well-dressed and wearing comfortable shirt. For bottom is recommended long pants/ sarong / longji.

6.During exercise, yogi must pay full respect to meditation teacher and methods of satipatthana meditation practice.

7.Doing sitting meditation by not leaning against the wall, pole or anything to support back and head.

8.Exercise restraint of the senses.

9.Slowing down all activities.

10.Continuity of mindfulness.

11.Keeping the mind in the present moment.

12.Keeping communications with the outside world to a minimum.


These rules are arranged in order to maintain the smoothness and comfort of yogi during the online practice meditation so that meditation exercises can be successful. These rules and regulations are arranged for implementing the purity of Vipassana practice.
